Saturday Shopping Spree

"Helping the recession" as my husband calls it...but needless to say, every Saturday, Me, Mama, My Sister and My Niece go shopping. Our first stop before we go anywhere else is Jerry's Furniture. Don't let the name fool ya! It's not just a furniture store, but they have a huge selection of home decor. The owners are Judy, her son, Jerry, and his wife Penny. They are some of the nicest people that you will ever meet and they are so helpful. They get something new in every week and we just have to go see what it is! We all have bought our share of furniture there, but we go every week for the "accessories". Their prices are wonderful and nobody can beat them. We circle the entire store 3 or 4 times, because you can't see everything the first time around. My sister found this huge sign to go above her french doors and you can tell by the picture that she is so excited! These are just a few shots of some of the items they carry.

Delicious Candle

This is a new candle that I recently bought at Wal-Mart. This flavor is Fresh Picked Apples, and it really does smell like fresh picked apples. They had a lot of fragrances to choose from and all different sizes. I got this tip from Ruth Ann over at Warm Pie, Happy Home.

Grandma's Cabinet

This is David's Grandma's cabinet that we had stored in the basement holding paint cans and other items, until I found a place for it in the kitchen. David and Travis had to carry it all the way around the house and through the front door because it wouldn't fit up the basement steps. It's a good thing that I have 2 strong men around the house for all my "redecorating needs". (Thanks guys) I think it looks pretty good here. It just needs more "stuff" in it. I think I'll have to go shopping!

Three or More Tuesday

I'm participating in the Three or More Tuesday from The Gypsy's Corner. While I was looking around my house for three items together, this shelf is the first thing that I spotted. Well actually, it is so small only 3 things could fit on it. Then my Mama and my Niece came over and I told them what I was doing and my niece started walking around pointing out groupings of three at my house. So here is a group of crocks that I have sitting at my fireplace. How could I have missed these?

Chocolate Chip Pound Cake

If you are a chocoholic like me, you will love this cake. This recipe is so easy and it doesn't even a require a mixer! Isn't that fabulous?

1 box yellow cake mix
1 box small box instant chocolate pudding
3/4 cup oil
3/4 cup water
1 cup sour cream
4 eggs
6 oz. milk chocolate chips

1. Sift together cake mix and pudding.
2. Make a well in the middle and add all ingredients except chips.
3. Stir until well blended, then stir in chips.
4. Pour into greased and flour bundt pan.
5. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hours.

How easy is that, and it's so scrumptious!!!

Den and Bedroom Make-Over

Here are some pictures of my bedroom and den. We just bought new furniture for both rooms. I got rid of the stuffy old traditional furniture and I'm trying to make it look more cozy. In the bedroom, I made the striped curtains and pillows, and guess what, I can't even sew. The fabric for the curtains and the two pillows on the bed are tablecloths from the clearance section at Marshall's for $6.99. I just took some pointers from "The Nester" and hot-glued them together. Trust me, I have the burn marks to prove it! Then the brown pillows are shower curtain fabric that I also got from Marshall's for $3.99. They are hot-glued also. Who would ever know?

Lovin' My MAC

Guess what I received by my UPS man today? My MAC order! I told you in my sidebar how I love my MAC makeup. He brought it to my office instead of leaving it at my house and he was hiding it behind his back. He said that he knew that I was waiting for it....isn't he sweet? They were out of what I needed in the store and I had to order it off of their website. If anyone isn't familiar with this product, it is wonderful. The eyeliner is like a black sharpie pen, I know it doesn't sound good, but it glides on so easy. It is called penultimate eye liner. Of course they were out of the other item that I needed which is the glitter eye liner. What girl doesn't want a little glitter in her life? Especially on her eyes! It is called Glitterpus! Isn't that a cute name. It is kind of a gold color and looks really cute on. Ya'll should try these if you get a chance. They're wonderful!!

Jumping on the "Blog Wagon"

This is my very first blog ever so obviously I don't know what I'm doing. I have been reading other people's blogs for a while now and thought that I would jump on the "blog wagon" myself. I live in the foothills of North Carolina with my husband of 25 years, David. His favorite phrase is "So, how much money did you save me today?", when I come home from shopping. I am all the time telling him how much I've saved by buying items on sale. Our son, Travis, is 21 years old and is a junior in college, but he lives at home. So I'm outnumberd in my household. I have recently been redecorating our house that we built 14 years ago. It was very traditional and now I have changed to primitive country. So has my Mama, my twin sister, and my niece. We all have the same tastes so we have so much fun shopping together for bargains for our homes. I'll post some pictures soon as I figure out how.
