Outdoor Wednesday - Neighborhood Dogs

This is what I see when I step outside my house. The neighborhood dogs. I love them, because they're not mine. Just like other peoples kids....you can feed them, play with them and send them back home. They live at the three houses across the street, but you would think that they are all brothers and sisters. One of the boxers - Alex lives in one house, the other boxer - Mac, lives in the other house and the two chihuahuas - George (the brown one) and Bella (the black one) lives in the third house. They all play together all day. So when you are outside, they all come running over expected to be petted and fed. Of course, I do that. I feed them alot! They all line up like soldiers and wait for their treat. They just roam from house to house and everyone takes care of them. They are a great asset to the neighborhood, because they know all of the cars and they will let you know when a strange car is coming. They are all very harmless, but they do scare off any unwanted visitors, because they look mean, especially the boxers. What is lurking outside your front door? 1. We used to have a boxer named 'Fergie', your post reminded me of her, she was very protective and territorial. . .I hope they don't come over and leave their calling cards on your lawn, that's what our neighbors dogs do:(

  4. Its good that you enjoy the dogs if the owners let them run loose. I prefer to live in a neighborhood where dogs are confined during the day. I don't want to deal with their refuse in my yard and when I walk, I don't want dogs running after me and barking.
    They are all adorable.

  5. Bella looks so much like my Chloe, except that Chloe is chubbier. Must be because she isn't outside playing all day. The dog owners are very blessed that you enjoy their dogs. That wouldn't go over well in our neighborhood.

  6. Cute pooches!

Around the corner from our summer cottage on Long Island when I was a little girl, lived a woman who bred champion boxers and lived in what seemed to me at the time the largest house in the world.

Her dogs were gorgeous but they scared the life out of me. My father had to go talk to her and tell her that she could no longer "exercise" her dogs on our property, as it was now owned by a family with children -- and he was tired of picking up after the dogs!

She was quite incensed, and thereafter would cross to the other side of the street when she passed our cottage. I don't think they make haughty old gals like that anymore ... but maybe I'm just lucky enough not to know any!

The dogs are lucky you enjoy their visits!

  7. I gather that the leash laws are not enforced. I agree with Mama Bear, they should be kept in their own yard or on a leash.
